Andak Bertandak – “Sakitnya Sikit, Riuhnya Sekampung!” tells the uproarious yet touching story of a village family when their daughter, Kiah, begins to suffer unexpected chest pains. Her worried parents, Pak Andak and Mak Andak, believe the cause must be supernatural, prompting them to summon Pawang Salleh, the confident local shaman who declares she is possessed by an evil spirit.
Meanwhile, Bidan Peah, a seasoned midwife who distrusts the pawang’s claims, adamantly argues that Kiah’s illness is purely medical in nature and must be treated accordingly.
The arrival of Dr. Zali, Kiah’s modern-minded fiancé, elevates the clash—he tries to soothe the villagers’ fears with science, only to find himself entangled in belief, tradition and familial pressure. As tensions escalate, the entire kampung becomes caught in a chaotic swirl of superstition, healing,
rivalry and revelation.
This vibrant theatre production features memorable performances by Azhan Rani, Ellie Suriaty, Riena Diana, Jay Iswazir, Dottie and Aizat Saha, under the direction of Azhar Zainal and written by Fasyali Fadhly.
The play was staged from 29 August to 1 September 2024 at Pentas 2, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC). It was produced by Mask Team in collaboration with Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA), with support from the Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia (MOTAC).
